SARISKA OVERNIGHT TRIP
| DAY 01 | Delhi-Sariska |
Wildlife lovers need not think twice before opting to go on the famous excursion from Delhi to Sariska. Tour to Sariska from Delhi begins with an arrival in New Delhi followed by a departure for Sariska which is located at a distance of 220 kms from Delhi. On arrival in Sariska, Check in at the hotel, Freshen up yourself and have a Lunch at the hotel.
After Lunch we proceed to Safari Point. Sariska Tiger Reserve and Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary. Sariska is a home to a large variety of wild animals and birds like big wild cats, tigers, leopards and panthers. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh of Alwar, Sariska is a famous hunting lodge.
Sariska National Park spans 866 sq km, of which 497 sq km is the core zone (habitat of the key wildlife) and 369 sq km is the buffer zone.
The landscape of the national park comprises dry deciduous forest, with patches of dry thorn forest and undulating hills in between. The spectrum of flora and fauna is a wide range, and varies by the geography. As one moves deeper into the park, the hills become higher and the cliffs sheerer. Water is deficient in the territory, being part of a desert state. There are 3 large lakes at the park's boundary - Mangalsar, Siliserh and Somasagar. These lakes dry up to a large extent in the summer season. Other small sources of water in the park are Bandipul, Pandupol, Tuda, Taraunda, Udainath, Narayani, and Talvriksh. Local authorities too, have tried to compensate for lack of water by creating artificial waterholes, such as the one at Kalighati.
The park looks completely different in the summer months and post-monsoon. Monsoons make the area lush green, with vegetation thick enough to reduce visibility to a few feet off the track.
Royal Bengal Tigers
Tigers are the key attraction of Sariska National Park, as it is a key tiger reserve under Project Tiger. The park used to have about 25 tigers.
Birds
Species of birds found in Sariska national park are Peafowl, Grey Partridge, Sand Grouse, Golden Backed Woodpecker, Bush Quail, Tree Pie, Crested Serpent Eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl.
Enjoy the evening at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Sariska.
